We Have An Anchor

This is a hymn that I sang growing up. I always liked this song because it was upbeat. Only now do I realize how significant these words are.

Our anchor is Jesus and the Bible, so we have the assurance we won’t  drift away. In the book of James it says we will have trials and storms in life.

At times I feel I’m on a ship that is going around and around with no light in sight. This is when I reflect on the scriptures I have heard and read. After Mama passed away, two dear friends gave me a beautiful delicate book with a handscripted cross on the front filled with handwritten encouraging scriptures that replaced the pronouns with my name, “Dawn”. That was so personal to read my name. That special book is when I began to write scriptures on my heart.

The light is there even when we are in a dark storm. The light is Jesus. We are taught to fix our eyes on Jesus and not what is around us. Once we see the light, we will begin to see the horizon. Hope and strength will fill your heart from the faith you have in God’s love.
