An Uplifting Uber Ride in Tennessee

This afternoon, I met an older Christian uber driver, named Mark. He was hospitable as soon as I got into his clean SUV. He asked if the temperature was comfortable and whether I was visiting anyone in Tennessee.

As we talked, I learned that his best friend from Sunday School was friends with a retired preacher who has made over 25,000 wooden crosses— the same one shown in my cover photo.

Mark took out a large Ziploc  bag of crosses and said, “Dawn, I have one for you.” I replied, “Wow, this is  your mission work.”  He smiled and said, “Yep—mission on wheels.”

In return, I said, “Mark,I have something for you,”  and handed him my business card with the information to my free short story devotional I write. He thanked me and said he liked the reason why I named my devotional, dawningofthenewday.

I later learned that Mark got in touch with the retired preacher and asked,“Can you make 4,000 more crosses for one  of our church ministries?” This amazing ministry is where  missionaries share the story of Jesus with  4,000 children of all ages in Peru. The retired preacher said, “I will.”

As  I was getting out of the car, I had tears in my eyes. Hearing people’s testimonies like this one fills my cup and inspired me to write this heartwarming devotional today.

Thank you Mark
