Friday Morning my friend Elisa, wanted me to meet her 80 year old Mama before she flew home to Guatemala. I told Elisa let me treat you both to lunch, but their time was limited. We both agreed we will definitly make it happen next time.
Later that afternoon Elisa called and said we can come over. I said "Come On” just like my hospitable Daddy would say. Once they came in with all smiles. Elisa's Mama was radiant in her pink dress, her long hair pulled back, and her pretty dangling earrings that framed her happy disposition.
Elisa immeaditely was taking pictures and speaking in Spanish to her Mama and Sister. I know very few Spanish words. Elisa would say my Mama and sister says they like your lemon cookies, Elisa would say my Mama loves your blue hydrangea paper napkins, and Elissa would say my Mama wants me to wear her Sombrero.
I realized our world is very small. A Smile and a Hospitable Heart says a million words in all languages. I told Elisa please tell your Mama that she can have the blue hydrangea napkin. Elisa said she says thank you and she will always remember this special day.
I had to excuse myself, my heart was so touched. I looked at my collection of my flowers and I gave her my bouquet of cheerful pink peonies. These pictures tell this beautiful story. Meeting Elisa's Mama and Sister was a special surprise. Each time when I look at blue hydrangeas I will not only think of my precious Daddy, also I will think of Elisa's sweet Mama who shines Jesus's Light too.
