Devotional Categories

My hope is for my readers to be encouraged, feel joy, to laugh, and be inspired. The stories are grouped by category Morning Glories, Precious Memories, Gathering Around The Table and Doodads.  Choose a category, a cup of coffee and let's connect with stories of faith that tie us all together.

Morning Glories

My Faith is the soul of my Life. I’m so thankful that that my amazing parents gave me my Foundation of my Faith. My mama read to my twin brother, Zane and I a Bible story every night. She taught my Bible class, every Children’s Bible song with hand motions, and hymns. My Daddy taught me to pray and to trust in the Lord.
My parents lived out what they believed and showed Grace and Joy to everyone. You could see Jesus’ light in them by their compassion, kindness, generosity, and listening hearts.

Precious Memories

I’m so thankful God has given me Precious Memories to write about my parents.

My sweet Mama passed away in 2014 from ovarian cancer and my daddy in 2015 of a broken heart. I miss them daily. These stories I write will be for my three kids one day. My hope is to keep their memory alive and to carry on traditions that they started.

What a beautiful legacy they left and I’m a thankful daughter.

Gathering Around The Table

I’m thankful my parents gave me the example of Gathering Around The Table.

Growing up my precious Mama had supper on the kitchen table everyday at 5:00 p.m. requested by my hardworking Daddy. He was a welder at US Steel and he was hungry when he got home. Our supper was not a one dish and a salad. It usually was a casserole or some type of meat along with many fresh vegetables from my Daddy’s bountiful garden, crispy cornbread, and some left over dessert from Sunday lunch after church.

Doodads

My daddy was a sergeant in the Army and he did not like clutter. Anytime growing up and we were going to have company over to eat he would say “ Doris clear off these Doodads”.

I too love Doodads like my mama did and decorating. Doodads make a house a home.

Strand of Pearls

This devotional category is dedicated to my daughters: Hannah and Lilly Grace.

My husband Andy and I have been married 27 years. He gave me a strand of beautiful pearls when my youngest daughter was 6 months old on Mother’s Day.

In this new chapter of Empty Nesting, I am thankful to see that my daughters are filled with grace and joy. I, too, have given them a pearl to form a strand of faith first, then love, strength, compassion, contentment, laughter and the gift of being a loyal friend.

A Cup of Tea

Friends we need each other when we are navigating life whatever season we are in. I was blessed to have older parents. Wisdom and story telling surrounded me.

My oldest daughter, Hannah told me recently “ Mama you do not see age.” It is true and I never have. Refreshment, Encouragement, and Inspiration fills my soul when my teacup is poured into.

This devotional category will be experiences of how we can encourage each other and pour our spiritual gifts into each other’s teacups.

New Beginnings

I’m 49 years old and have entered the season, of Empty Nesting. I married my high school sweetheart at age 22 and had my first child at age 24. My oldest, Hannah is married to Garrett. My son, Jackson, is working and living downtown. My youngest, Lilly Grace attends TCU Nursing School.

I truly have been a devoted wife and stay at home Mama. To find my new purpose in this chapter of life, I am praying, reading God’s word, serving, reflecting, meditating, writing, creating and designing.
